Set in the vocative countryside of the natural park of the Secchia River, a short distance from Mantua, Bertoia Court, Bed & Breakfast is an ancient dairy-farm which has been restored with the use of natural materials and at the same time respecting the environment.
Rooms are on an independent level and breakfast is served in the large entrance room with a view onto the countryside.
The house
The house was built in the 1600s as a property of the Benedictine Abbey at Polirone to administer an estate of 300 rods. At the end of the 1700s it was registered in the Teresian cadastre as “House and Court for Holiday use” within a vast holding that supplied wine and grain to the monastery. After the ecclesiastical ownings had been confiscated in the Napoleonic period, the property became private and new buildings were added for growing necessities. The main part was rebuilt at the beginning of the 1900s and today it contains the B & B.
The rooms, spacious and furnished in the traditional style, contain private bathrooms and private heating.
We serve continental breakfast with home-made cake and jam.
On request – biological, dietary and glutine-free foods can be prepared.
Nature relax
The B & B is situated in an evocative area, set in the green of the countryside and surrounded by 30 hectares of farming land. You can use your stay to live in direct contact with nature, going for walks on the banks, bicycle-tours discovering churches from Roman period in the area or just reading a book sitting on the grass. You can also observe the starry nights – this experience can be completed with a visit to the nearby astronomy observatory.
Discover the Abbey and the Churches
Five Kms away at Polirone there is the Benedictine Abbey. An important medieval and Renaissance monastic complex with artworks and masterpieces by Correggio and Giulio Romano which is supplemented by a museum on farm-life. Many churches in lower – Mantua date back to the early middle ages and are linked to the name of “Matilde of Canossa”. A special itinerary allows you to visit it all in a day.
Mantua and the Gonzagas
The Gonzagan capital houses buildings, museums and permanent exhibitions. A day allows you to appreciate art treasures like Mantegna's “Camera degli Sposi” , the ducal Place and the Te Palace. A few kilometres away from the city centre there is the Renaissance sanctuary of the “Grazie” set near a lake, and the summer residence and park at Bosco Fontana. Sabbioneta is an ideal city built by the Gonzagas. Today it is still surrounded by city walls enclosing churches and buildings.
The river, lakes and cruises
The Po is travelled by a fleet of cruise-boats which reach Mantua , Ferrara and Venice in a day, whilst on the lake of Mantua , literary evenings are held on board of cruise boats navigating the area. These excursions can be booked from our B & B.
Po Basin cities
Bertoia Court can be the starting point for one day excursions to the main artistic cities of the nearby. Verona and the near Garda Lake, Cremona, Parma, Modena, Ferrara, Bologna, Padova.

Das Bed&Breakfast befindet sich in der grünen Ebene zwischen den Flüssen Po und Secchia in der Nähe von Mantua. Es handelt sich um ein altes Herrenhaus, das im Einklang mit der Natur und unter Verwendung natürlicher Materialien renoviert wurde.
Das von einer stimmungsvollen Landschaft umgebene B&B bereitet den Gästen einen familiären Empfang.
Die Zimmer befinden sich auf einem eigenen Stockwerk, und das Frühstück wird im großen Eingangssaal mit Blick auf das umliegende Land serviert.
Das Haus
Das Landgut enstand im 17. Jh als Basitztum des Benediktinerklosters von Polirone, um ein Grunstück von 300 pertiche (ältere Maßeinheit) zu verwalten.
Am ende des 18 Jh. wurde es in dem Teresiano-Kataster eingetragen als, Haus und Hof für Urlaub und erholung innerhalb eines großen Landguts, welches das Kloster mit wein ud weizen versogte.
Nach der Beschlagnahme der Kirchenbesitztümer zur Zeit Napoleons wurde es privatbesitz und neue Gebäude wurden errichtet, um die wachsenden Bedürfnisse zu befriedigen.
Das Herrenhaus wurde Anfang des 20. Jh wieder aufgebaut und beherbergt heute das B&B.
Die Zimmer
Die Zimmer, sehr geräuming und in traditionellem ländlichen Stil eingerichtet, sind mit eigenem Bad und eigener heizung ausgestattet.
Das Frühstück
Das Frühstück ist kontinantaler Art.
Auf Wunsch werden biologische, diätetische oder glutenfreie Speisen vorbereitet.
In den Preisen sind Übernachtung und Frühstuck inbegriffen.

Le Bed & Breakfast 'Corte Bertoia' est une ancienne ferme ravalée dans le respect du milieu à l'aide de matières naturelles qui est plongée dans la suggestive campagne du parc naturel du fleuve Secchia, à quelques kilomètres de Mantoue.
Intégré dans un paysage délicieux, riche de atmosphère, le B&B réserve aux hôtes un accueil chaleureux et familier.
Les chambres se trouvent à un niveau indépendant et on sert le petit déjeuner dans la grande salle d'entrée, dont la vue donne sur la campagne.
La maison
La cour, domaine rural de trois cents perches, au XVIIe siècle est une propriété de l'abbaye bénédictine de Polirone, liée à Cluny. A la fin du XVIIIe siècle elle est enregistrée au cadastre autrichien thérésien comme 'Maison et cour à l'usage des vacances' à l'intérieur d'une grande ferme qui approvisionne en vin et blé le monastère. Après la confiscation des biens ecclésiastiques à l'époque napoléonienne, la propriété devient privée et on construit de nouveaux bâtiments, étant les nécessités toujours croissantes. La maison du maître est réédifiée au début du XXe siècle et à présent abrite le B&B.
Les chambres
Les chambres, spacieuses et meublées dans le style traditionnel, sont équipées de salle de bain et chauffage autonome.
Le petit déjeuner
Le petit déjeuner est de type continental.
A la demande on prépare même des plats biologiques, diététiques ou sans gluten.
Les prix comprennent le petit déjeuner.
